Marriage Vows

Several weeks ago in our Sunday church service the theme during worship was the bride of Christ, going beyond the veil and marriage. The following passage of scripture reminds me of marriage vows ("in sickness, in health...") but vows as being ministers of God:

2 Corinthians 6:4-10
"But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in sleeplessness, in fastings; by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known, as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things."

Do The Next Thing

"Many a questioning, many a fear,
Many a doubt, hath its quieting here.
Moment my moment, let down from Heaven, Time, opportunity, guidance, are given.
Fear not tomorrows, Child of the King, Trust them with Jesus,
'DO THE NEXT THING.' Do it immediately; do it with prayer;
Do it reliantly, casting all care;
Do it with reverence, tracing His Hand Who placed it before thee with earnest command.
Stayed on Omnipotence, safe 'neath His wing, Leave all resultings, 'DO THE NEXT THING.'"
